Monday – Leave Glasgow visiting Bowes Museum, Barnard  Castle and York  Museum Gardens

Evening Dinner in a private room at The Star Inn, Museum Street, York.

Tuesday           

Visit to Merchants Hall.

Lunch at Greys Court followed by visit to Askham Bog with Professor Alastair Fitter

Evening – Talk by Chris Ridgway, Senior Curator, Castle Howard

Dinner – Members choose their own.

Visit to Castle Howard with conducted tour of the Mausoleum –  Lunch at Castle Howard, paid for  individually.

Free afternoon

Evening drinks reception by Yorkshire Philosophical Society followed by a talk on Medieval York by Professor Bill Sheils.

Dinner – Group meal

Thursday         

Visit to York Art Gallery with introductory talk by Peter Miller, President of Friends of York Art Gallery. Coach returns with lunch stop at Cross Lanes Organic Farm.

Travel and Costs

Travel will be by coach (with toilet) from Glasgow. Pick up points will be arranged.

Accommodation and breakfast for three nights at the Bar Convent in York . A limited number of double and twin-bedded rooms are still available.

Costs

The cost for the four-day trips, including travel, three nights accommodation including breakfast plus some group meals as well as  entry fees and contributions to visits and speakers, is £580 per person.
